apart from excellent scuba diving, koh lanta and the surrounding southern provinces offer some great opportunity to experience the tropical nature and it's wildlife.

there's the lanta marine national park where special kinds of monkeys, birds, and lizards can be found in the untouched rain forests that cover the hundreds of islands. many of the islands are uninhabited and white sandy beaches invite for snorkeling, camping, a bbq-sunset. there're the large lizards on koh rok, a real paradise island with amazing coral gardens and islands like koh talibeng with caves to be discovered.

koh rok national marine park offers great treks through tropical rainforest, the encounter with the large monitor lizard and some of the most excellent snorkeling site there is in the area: 1 square mile of coral reef stretches along the protected inner sides of the twin islands, easily accessible by boat or from the pristine white sand beaches.

a trip around lanta island with the traditional longtail shows quite a variety of beautiful landscapes: the white sandy or sometimes rocky beaches along lanta's west coast with jungle topped hills in the back, dramatic cliffs around the southern tip and extended mangrove forests on the eastern coast.
